Treatment Approach
Five Circle Approach
I work using an integrated approach of counselling. My approach is based on the Five Circle approach to counselling originated with the Waverly House (CWR) together with a Person Centred Approach.
The Five Circle theory is based on a Christian worldview and defines five areas in which people can experience problems all of which work together. The five circle:
The Physical Circle – what is happening to your body
The Emotional Circle – how you are feeling
The Volitional Circle – what you are wanting to achieve
The Rational Circle – how you are thinking about life
The Spiritual Circle – what is happening in your spirit
Long-standing behaviour patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life can be examined.
About Person Centred Therapy
Carl Rogers was a well known psychologist who developed Person Centred Therapy. He said "Individuals have within themselves vast resources for self-understanding and for altering their self-concepts, basic attitudes and self directed behaviour (and that) these resources can be tapped if a definable climate of psychological attitudes can be provided"
As a Person Centred Therapist my aim is to help you feel safe within the counselling room by providing a comfortable warm genuine and none judgmental environment. These core conditions will allow you to explore your inner thoughts and feelings leading to a greater self awareness and understanding of them.
You will not be rushed to move forward as this approach is non-directive and therefore I will be working empathically and at your pace to help you unlock the way forward.
